Thirty businesses get together to swap ideas
A new networking initiative for businesses got off to a good start in Wisbech last week (November 25).
Representatives from about 30 businesses joined in an informal get-together at the Boathouse to exchange ideas, contacts and experiences.
It was the first of a series of similar events being organised by Fenland District Council and the economic development company Opportunity Peterborough in partnership with Link4Growth, a not for profit organisation helping to connect people in communities across the country.
Opportunity Peterborough's Peter Richardson, who is the council's inward investment manager, said: "We want to give local businesses and community members more opportunities to come together and share thoughts and ideas in an informal environment.
"The success of last week's event was testament to the appetite for this. We're aiming to make this a regular event and hold similar get-togethers in other places in Fenland. We also hope to add other themed events to keep local businesses up to date with the latest news and opportunities in the area."
Nikki Pepper, of Link4Growth, said: "We're very pleased so many people came along. There was a great atmosphere and many people stayed on at the end to carry on chatting.
"We're already talking about another joint venture in Chatteris in the new year. The plan is that these events will run every four weeks. "
