Briefing for candidates in county council elections

Anyone thinking of standing for one of the nine seats in Fenland that will be contested in the Cambridgeshire County Council elections on May 4 is invited to a special briefing in March next month.

Public speaking

The briefing is open to all potential candidates for those seats and their agents. It will be held on Wednesday, March 8, at 6pm in the Council Chamber at Fenland Hall.

The seats in Fenland are: Chatteris, March North and Waldersey, March South and Rural, Roman Bank and Peckover, Whittlesey North, Whittlesey South, Wisbech East and Wisbech West.

Seven of those are represented by a single member and one division (March North and Waldersey) by two members.

Anyone interested in attending the briefing should call Fenland District Council's elections team on 01354 622383 or email elections@fenland.gov.uk.

Nomination packs for candidates are now available. They can be downloaded from www.fenland.gov.uk/elections. Alternatively, call  01354 622383 or email elections@fenland.gov.uk to request one

Although candidates do not have to live in the electoral division they stand for, people providing a signature to nominate a candidate must be registered to vote in the division.

The election for the first Mayor of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority is also being held on May 4.

A separate briefing for potential candidates and agents in that election will be held by East Cambridgeshire District Council. Please contact them directly for more information.
