New finance chief at Fenland District Council
Fenland District Council has appointed Brendan Arnold as its new Chief Finance Officer and Corporate Director.
Mr Arnold will take up his post on April 24.
He comes to Fenland after six years at Hull City Council, where he was part of the member and officer leadership team and wider partnership that led to the revitalisation of the city.
He said: "I am absolutely delighted that my appointment with Fenland has now been confirmed and I'm very much looking forward to joining the council team, meeting colleagues and learning more about the council and the community.
"It was a great privilege to have served the City of Hull at a time when the business environment was so challenging but also to share in the excitement of Hull's rebirth as City of Culture 2017 and emergence as a centre for manufacturing to support the green energy sector. Professionally those years were immensely rewarding."
Mr Arnold's previous senior roles have included three years as director of corporate finance at Birmingham City Council, where he helped to stabilise the City's finances and deliver an efficiency programme and major business transformation initiatives.
He has also had a spell at the Department of Communities and Local Government in Whitehall and spent five years at a senior level with the Metropolitan Police Finance Team and at Transport for London, where he worked closely with TfL's commercial businesses.
Mr Arnold succeeds Rob Bridge, who was appointed in February as chief executive at Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.
