Operator appointed for new Wisbech Bus Service

An operator has been appointed to run a new pilot bus service in Wisbech.

The new service will replace the Tesco 66 service which was withdrawn by Stagecoach last year.

Launching later this year, the service will provide access to Tesco and businesses on Cromwell Road and will be delivered by local community transport provider FACT.

The service has been developed via a competitive tender process, with the aim of improving access to local healthcare, education and community facilities. The route will also include parts of South and North-West Wisbech that are not currently served by public transport.

Designed through the Wisbech Bus Service project, the new route is 'community-led' and has been developed in response to resident feedback. This has given a valuable insight into local transport needs and the gaps in existing services.

The service will initially run on a year's trial, with the intention of continuing it if it proves to be a success. Its performance will be monitored throughout its trial period, with customer feedback around potential improvements welcomed.

Full details of the route, timetable and start date will be made available once the service registration has been finalised, which is expected to be within the next 3 months.

Residents can sign up to be notified about the service by sending their contact details to neighbourhoodstrategy@fenland.gov.uk or by calling 01354 622318.
