Council flies the flag for Armed Forces Day

Fenland District Council will show its support for military men and women past and present when it flies a special flag in the run up to the ninth annual Armed Forces Day.

Armed Forces flag

The council will join hundreds of local authorities and organisations across the UK in hoisting an Armed Forces Day flag on Monday, June 19, marking the start of week-long celebrations honouring Her Majesty's Armed Forces.

The flag will fly at Fenland Hall in County Road, March, until the Armed Forces Day itself, on Saturday, June 24.

The annual event helps raise public awareness of the contribution made by those who serve and have served in the Armed Forces, and show support for all members of the Armed Forces community - from serving troops and veterans to reservists and cadets.

Fenland District Council Chairman Kay Mayor said: "We are honoured to be part of this annual salute to our Armed Forces, past and present, which show amazing resilience and courage at home and around the world. Our district has a proud history of involvement with the Armed Forces, and we pay tribute to them and their families."
