'Tri' your hand at fitness fundraiser

Fitness enthusiasts are being invited to go the distance and help those suffering with cancer by taking part in a charity triathlon.

New Vision Fitness is holding the triathlon at the George Campbell Leisure Centre in March on Sunday, October 22, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event kicks off at 9am with a 300-metre swim in the pool, followed by a 45-minute indoor cycle and finishes with a 5km run around West End park.

It will be launched by Councillor Kay Mayor, Chairman of Fenland District Council, which runs the district's four New Vision Fitness centres.

Macmillan is Cllr Mayor's chosen charity for her term in office, with recent coffee mornings and bake off events so far raising more than £1,500 for the cause.

"The triathlon looks set to be a great event for both participants and spectators," she said. "I hope lots of people take part or come along on the day to cheer everyone on."

George Campbell centre manager Andy Cornwell added: "We are really looking to hosting the New Vision Fitness Triathlon here at the George Campbell Centre. This will not cover a massive distance so it is perfect to have a go at a triathlon for the first time. Alternatively, for our fitter members, they can treat it like a sprint event."

The triathlon is open to everyone aged 16 or over, including non-New Vision Fitness members.

For more information and to enter the triathlon, contact the George Campbell on 01354 622399.
