Cemetery renovation works complete

Renovation work to improve the children's section of Eastwood Cemetery in March has been completed ahead of schedule.

Grass surrounding the plots has been removed and replaced with stone chippings, to enhance the area and eliminate the need for future weed spraying and grass strimming. The area has also been levelled and vacant plots marked with flagstones.

ISS World began the work on behalf of cemetery owners Fenland District Council earlier this month and completed it in just over a week.

The Council is also offering grey flagstones free-of-charge for existing children's plots that do not have any kerbs or memorials laid.

Similar renovation works have already taken place in the neighbouring ashes internment area.

Councillor Peter Murphy, the Council's Portfolio Holder for Environment, said: "These works have really helped to enhance the look of the area, and will help us to keep it clean, tidy and a pleasant place to visit."
