Rubbish at putting the bins out? Download the new Fenland Bins app!

A free mobile app has been launched that enables Fenland residents to easily obtain bin collection information on their smartphones, tablets and laptops.

Fenland Bins app

People can use the 'Fenland Bins' app to check their blue, green and brown bin collection dates for the next six weeks. Users can also save the dates to their device's calendar and get reminders of upcoming collections.

Fenland District Council has launched the app in partnership with service management provider Bartec Auto ID and digital software company Imactivate, who have provided it to the council free-of-charge as part of a pilot project also involving Leeds City Council.

Councillor Peter Murphy, the council's Cabinet member responsible for the environment, said: "I'm really pleased with this new app. It shares our collection data to let people know when their next collection will take place, and which bin to put out. It's convenient and easy to use too, why not give it a try?"

The app can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play - just search for 'Fenland Bins'. Enter your postcode to get collection dates for the next six weeks.

Once the app is downloaded, users enter their postcode to choose their property. No personal data is shared or required for the app to function.

Bin collection days can also be checked on the council website at or through the use of the collection calendars delivered twice yearly to all properties.

Brown bin collection days are only shown where customers are subscribed to the garden waste service.
