Villagers invited to join community litter pick

Murrow could become home to Fenland's 15th Street Pride group if a community litter pick in the village next weekend proves a success.

Residents are keen to set up one of the volunteer groups, which support Fenland District Council's environment teams to help improve the quality of their local area.

Now a community litter pick has been organised for Saturday, June 2, with the potential to formally set up a new group.

Rebecca Robinett, the Council's Street Pride co-ordinator, said: "Fenland's Street Pride groups continue to go from strength to strength, with 14 now running across the district, including many which have been going for more than 10 years.

"National litter pick events, such as the Great British Spring Clean and Great Plastic Pick Up, highlight the scourge of litter in our communities and demonstrate the huge difference volunteers can make. Working together also shows that we won't tolerate litter on our streets and raises awareness of how people should dispose of their rubbish responsibly."

Rebecca urged as many Murrow residents as possible to join them next Saturday from 10am. Volunteers will be meeting at the Village Hall, and all equipment will be provided.
