How to Stand
Full guidance on how to stand for the elections is on the Electoral Commission Website. The guidance covers eligibility, how to stand, permitted expenditure, the campaign, your rights and what happens after the declaration of the results.
Useful information can found on Local Government Association Website if are considering becoming a councillor. The website outlines what councils and councillors do, what you will need to do to take your first steps and all about the role and the support you can expect.
If you are thinking of becoming a Town/Parish councillor and want to serve your local community. The National Association of Local Councils has general advice and information.
Candidates and Agents Briefing
We will be running a briefing session for candidates and agents. This session is for anyone standing election or re-election and will explain how the election will be run for the parishes and district council.
The briefing will be held on:
2 March 2023 at 6.30pm in the Council Chamber at Fenland Hall.
Nominations
Nominations will open the day after the publication of the Notice of Election on Monday 20 March 2023 until 4pm on Tuesday 4 April 2023. Nomination packs are available below:

Nomination papers must be delivered by hand to Fenland District Council offices strictly by appointment only. We are also offering an informal check of your nomination paper also by appointment only. To make an appointment you will need to telephone 01354 622207 or e-mail elections@fenland.gov.uk. Appointments will be available from 9am to 5pm in half hour slots and will be on a first come first served basis.
Changes have been made to the number of signatures required for the nomination of a candidate for the District elections and only a Proposer and Seconder are now required. Please remember that you are not allowed to sign the consent form earlier than one calendar month before the deadline for submitting your nomination papers.
