Minutes:

Councillor Humphrey opened the hearing and invited Michelle Bishop, Licensing Manager, to make an announcement.

Michelle Bishop advised that she had received an email yesterday (Sunday 1st September) from Corrigan Lockett, agent for owner of Haran’s store, requesting an adjournment due to the store owner being injured in an assault in the premises on Friday 30 August. Subsequently she has received an email from the investigating police officer and verbal confirmation from Fenland CCTV confirming the incident took place.

The agent has formally requested an adjournment to today’s hearing in the public interest to allow a fair hearing to take place at a later date.

Michelle Bishop pointed out that on the afternoon of Friday 30 August she had received notification from the agent, who had been appointed at the last minute, requesting an adjournment. She then contacted Councillor Humphrey and Colin Miles, Fenland District Council’s Legal representative, who decided an adjournment would not be granted and the hearing would go ahead as originally planned.

The Chairman agreed to an adjournment in view of the circumstances that have now arisen and announced the revised date for the hearing to be Friday 27 September at 11.00am at the Boathouse.
