How we help in an emergency

Find out our role in an emergency

Accidents, whether human or natural, occur from time to time. They can happen on a small or large scale. Examples include fire, transport disasters, chemical incidents, flooding, pandemic flu or a terrorist attack.

Our role in an emergency is to:

  • support the emergency services in all areas of their work
  • maintain essential services
  • help return the community to a state of normality as soon as possible

We prepare emergency plans and make arrangements to protect the people, property and environment of Fenland. This is to reduce the impact on them from an emergency.

We are a member of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Local Resilience Forum. By working with others, we can provide an integrated response to an emergency. We can also make effectively plans and organise major-incident training exercises.

Whatever the incident, our role is to provide care and support to the community and to get things back to normal as soon as possible.

Our emergency planning officer on call at all times to deal with an emergency.

We also have staff who prepare the Council for an emergency and can provide guidance to the public and businesses.
